My First Decade of Marathon Running. Jurong to Kunanyi.

Finisher t-shirt and medal from Paris Marathon 2014

As the year and decade draw to a close, so too do my first 10 years of marathon running.

With last weekend’s finisher’s medal still on the kitchen table and my feet appreciating the late November sun and respite, what better time to reflect on my first decade of marathon running…

Over the past week I’ve been reading old race reports, clicking through photos and replotted a few pieces of data. All of a sudden 10 years have passed and I’ve completed 13 marathons and 12 half marathons. It’s been a relatively unplanned yet immensely rewarding journey. Some things I remember very well, like the strong legs in Berlin in 2017 or the nerves before my second marathon in 2012 (I really didn’t know what I was getting into at my first). I had forgotten many highs and lows, so it’s been great to revisit learning points and my achievements.

Here’s what I got up to during my first decade of marathon running…click to read my article on Medium.
