Speaking

When someone gives me their precious time and attention, I have a responsibility to provide a valuable, thought-provoking experience.

That’s why I tailor each presentation to suit the context and maximise impact. I collaborate closely with event hosts to ensure understanding of each other’s aims and expectations and develop how together we can achieve those aims.

I’m available for keynotes, presentations, as a panellist, facilitator or moderator (in-person and online).

Topics

I speak and write on a range of topics and welcome invitations to speak on other related areas.

The content

Selecting the content is an iterative process, shaped by the context and the intended impact for the audience. I use my critical thinking skills and scientific expertise to curate information that’s appropriate and relevant to the topic. I include information that’s evidence-based as well as considered opinions (my own and of others) to stimulate thought and action.

The context

Excellent content isn’t enough to guarantee an effective presentation – hearing new information is rather pointless if you can’t understand it or use it. So content must be tailored to the audience and delivered in an engaging, clear and logical way. I integrate lessons learnt from my involvement with TED, TEDx, 3MinuteThesis and Falling Walls Lab about the art and power of story to connect with audience members.

The impact

The engagement of an audience member with the presentation content shouldn’t end when the speaker leaves the stage. Instead, the presentation can be the spark which ignites new ideas, insight and inspiration. I aim to provide audience members with new tools that they can use to actively shape their futures by thought or action.
